Freelancer or agency for your website?

Both have their place. Where a freelancer has the edge, where an agency does, and how to decide for your project.

Short answer: it depends on the project and what you expect from the collaboration. Both routes have pluses and minuses. Let’s compare them honestly.

Freelancer

You talk directly to the person who actually builds the website. Communication is fast, with no middlemen, and one specific person is responsible for the project from start to finish. Overheads are lower, so the price tends to be friendlier, and the approach more personal.

Where the limit is: with very large projects or several running in parallel, one person hits capacity and cannot offer the cover a team can.

Agency

An agency has capacity and more specialists, so it can handle large projects and several things at once, and it has processes and cover.

But you pay for that: a higher price because of overheads, and communication often through an account manager rather than with the person who actually builds the site. Your project is one of many.

How to decide

Ask yourself a few questions: who will actually work on the website, who will I talk to, what is included in the price, and who owns the code, domain and hosting after hand-over. The answers will tell you more than the logo in the footer.

For most small and medium-sized businesses, a freelancer is the faster and more personal route. Website design with me means one person from design through code to launch. If you are not sure, write to me and we will talk about whether I am the right fit for your project.
